Gd3 parts on Gd1 ??

Hi all!

Does anybody here know what the differences are between a gd1 ( 2002 Jazz ) and a Gd3?

I've seen this skunk2 proC kit, but wil it fit my 2002 Jazz?

I've hit the search button, but didn't find the differences between the 2 GD versions..

Many thanks!

The GD3 is the 1.5 vtec engine model that's available in the US and Japan etc. The GD1 is the 1.3 us europeans have.
IIRC the Skunt Pro-C coilovers fit the US model, which has different bolt holes sizes to the European and Japanese models, so they won't fit.
I'm running BC racing coilovers, made specifically for our european cars, and they're great.

Thanks Braziers!

Did you buy them in the Uk? Maybe have a link, where you ordered them?

Those are the only differences? Suspension and engine...

So these will fit onto my 2002 Jazz? Or isn't this the set you bought?

And what springrates do you have?

The Bumper's and stuff are different aswell, but you can swap out the bumpers etc.

That isn'tthe set i got. That set fits the US model.
I emailed BC about mine and they told me to go through one of their suppliers, who trade on ebay. Here's the link: BC Racing Coilovers Honda Fit/Jazz 01-07 BR Series on eBay (end time 06-Jun-10 16:31:09 BST)

Just make sure when you buy them that you say your car is a GD1, and the year etc.
That ebay link advertises the BR series, but you'll get the V1 series, which is what I have. They are awesome coilovers.
I have 6k F&R Spring rates, but I would like higher spring rates at the back.

I wouldn't go any harder up front. My front's are really hard with the dampening at it's hardest.
I would go harder in the back though. I'd like 10k for the back.

Ok, it's quite funny... Normally you need more K on the front than in the back...

I know. But I find that because the fronts are a complete unit they are alot stiffer than the rears, which are independant spring and shock.

For the most part, it should be a straightforward deal installing non-engine-related GD3 parts to a GD1 chassis. The differences are pretty slight, especially since neither of these have the Real Time 4WD system that complicates things at the rear of the GD2 and GD4 (more weight at the rear = different suspension design).
