Fron license plate cover damage

Hey everyone, My front bumper is getting hammered by the front license plate cover that the dealer put on my 08 sport. It's already worn past the paint and has put a groove in the front bumper where the top of the license plate is making contact with the bumper. I assume this is happening most during highway driving. I'm wondering if something like this should be covered by the dealer that put it on, or am I just screwed? I didn't notice the damage till a few days ago and it is UGLY. What's worse is I moved from Texas where I bought the car and am now in PA where I don't need a front license, so when I take that front license cover off it's going to be very visible.
Any solutions? Should I contact my dealer that installed the holder or just Honda?

happens to a lot of people. i took my front plate off for that reason, didnt want it to ruin the paint. Now if i get pulled over i can show them the plate and say it just fell off in the car wash. I doubt the dealer or honda would do anything about it. Is it too late for some touch up paint?

I think touch up would be a lost cause. It's grooved down through some of the plastic on the bumper. You can feel a deep depression where it's been rubbing. Horrible feeling finding something like that.

i guess you could try taking it to a body shop. Dont know if it would be worth doing that since its not a huge problem. Im sure they would try and rip you off there. I guess this would be the perfect excuse for a JDM front swap.

I've got the same issue. I want to take off the plate, let me know how you end up getting this fixed.

Happens on every GD, it's a stupid way to mount a front plate. I'm going to get a relocation kit to bolt it into the front tow hook, then get the entire front bumper fixed and resprayed.

What I did to the back of the frame was get some fish tubing and cut it open so that I can slip it over the part that is scratching my bumper. I had my plate off for quite some time, but when I got pulled over by a cop I told him the same story about it falling off in the car wash. Cop didn't care too much because it was still a fix it ticket.

I don't care quite as much about looks as a lot of people, and I had a plastic plate from a dive shop I like, so I just put that on the front, leaving on the front plate mount.

Just get a Flyer's plate for the front. I will have my Montreal Canadians plate on my Fit.

Having same problem with license plate holder dealer put on car and just recently noticed damage to paint rubbed off from vibration of plate holder. Dealer so far has refused to paint bumper. This is a defect in the plate holder. My car no longer under warranty. I was told to bring car in for pics, then to wait 10 business days for solution reply. Waited 14 days and was told DSM just back from vacation so called Honda 800 #. Honda representative at corporate office said will not paint bumper because car out-of-warranty. I have to go to mediation, though did go back and request DSM to meet with me at dealership. Honda is not the company it use to be and the car Fit is not a repeat purchase nor do I at this time want to buy any other Honda vehicle. How is it my fault the front plate holder is defected the way it is manufactured for installation. Actually Honda the company is manufacturing front bumper holders defectively. Who else has had this problem?
