Picked up a shark fin antenna, need help

So, I picked up a shark fin off of Ebay. Can anyone tell me how the OEM antenna comes off? The shark fin I bought, has a yellow wire with a male plug on the end...so I assume that plugs in somewhere?

twist the antenna off, (left)
then you should be able to screw in
the wire from the shark antenna.

Do these get better reception, or are you doing it for the "cool factor"?

Its "mine" not "mines." The word is plural on its own. Figure this out and maybe you can figure out the antenna install.

OK I just put one on mine GE8. The antenna just twists off counter clockwise. It should be in instructions if not try manual.

Now on a GE8 there is a bolt that goes through wire on Shark into mount on the car. As you have a male plug I suspect your GD is different and must have a female. So maybe removing it is a matter of just pulling straight up? Then just plug in the Shark. Is all this not in the instructions?

I got mine for the looks. Reception is about the same I guess.

I'm guessing that they sent you the wrong part. Is the male end roughly 1/4 inch in diameter (aka motorola plug) like the one shown here? If so, then you need to send it back. The motorola plug has been the standard for at least 40 years, but ours (obviously) don't have that kind of connection.

Edit: You could, conceivably, remove the ENTIRE antenna assembly from the car and put in an adapter like this one. I, personally, wouldn't do that since you would probably end up with water coming into the car every time it rains...
