Do you paddle?

So for all those AT's out there I want to know if you use the paddle shifters. It has become a habit and everyday I use them. I'll drive down the highway with in drive then when coming to a red light ill shit into S which downshifts once and then Ill continue downshifting while braking.

I also use it around long bends or windy roads to keep my RPM's up so i can zip around the corner. I drive the car hard and I love the sport paddle shifters. I'd rather a manual transmission but when my parents bought the car I had no license no experience and no say in what they got me besides the color.

100% of the time. The programmed auto never does it right. Its very often in the wrong gear for the place.

I use the paddles usually at least once a day, I used to downshift when slowing to a light but after a while decided it's not worth the extra wear and tear on the tranny. If you're going to do it, though, you can heel-toe pretty easily with the Fit for rev-matching.

Hardly ever, one of my biggest regrets about this car is I didn't hold out and search for a Fit equipped with a manual transmission the paddles are a joke compared to that.

I always drive in Sport mode and use the paddles unless I don't expect to get over 30 mph. Sport helps mileage on the highway, and is almost essential on twisty mountain roads.

i believe you click paddle downshift, then during the slit second time the transmission is shifting down one gear you quickly blip the gas pedal before it completes the downshift. side note, when you're cruising on the freeway and in drive (D) mode and want to shift down 2 gears really fast, shift to Sport (S) mode, and also click the downshift paddle. the car will automatically shift one gear down due to shifting to sport mode, and also another gear due to clicking the paddle downshift. It does it quicker than when in sport mode and clicking the downshift twice. i suppose it works best when you are driving normal and you get some sort of road rage and need a burst of turtle speed into sport mode :-p

hey same here. I drive my car in sport mode all the time and when my parents bought the car for me I didn't really like cars at the time so I didn't ask for a manual.

After reading this thread I decided to try driving with only paddles for the whole day. Got better gas mileage by ~1.5 mpg

I use paddle shifting 90% of the time. The times that I don't paddle shift is when I'm digging through my glove box for something, eating in the car and sometimes when I'm talking on the phone. Basically, any activity that I found difficult to do when I drove manual cars I now do in D mode. But, if paddle shifters weren't an option, I would have gotten a manual.

Looking over my list of pros and cons regarding manual vs auto on the fit, I'm still pleased with my decision to get a paddle shifting auto. This choice constantly causes me to be surprised as I can recall myself saying I would never-ever, over my dead body, buy an automatic car. Because of this, I feel like I need to constantly reassure myself I made the best decision. So far, no regrets.
