I found that when I crack the 70 75 mph mark MPG suffers. 60 to 65 much better but I know its impossible I would have difficulty going that speed especially when the flow is faster than that. experiment I look forward to your results. draft a lot and put a little more than the recommended tire pressure I run 40 lbs. Make sure air filter is not real dirty

last big round trip on stock tires i hit 39-41 mpg doing 70-75 but it's not like i have hills or need to the run the A/C...hell i don't really crack the windows when i drive solo.

return is going to suck cuz the people i'm picking up need A/C...so i will have a jacket

yea i'm gonna roll 40PSI and check the filter before i head out tomorrow. this will be interesting on the 205/55/15s

I want to thank eastex for showing me the error of my ways. I tried to duplicate his filling technique and was able to get 12 gallons in the tank. "YES he was right"
I thought that stuffing the tank meant 2 or 3 clicks after it stopped filling. was I WRONG.
I filled that bad boy until I could see the gas almost at the top of the neck. What is so awesome about this is I have 81 miles on this tank and the needle has not moved yet.
May hit around 100 miles when the needle starts to move. this will greatly increase my range per tank and will be very helpful as I take lots of road trips to and from Jersey for family.
Thanks eastex

Thanks SSRich, this method has served me well. I don't have to fill up so often, and I frequently get 400 miles per tank.

Results...

Starting off not quite 0.0 but meh...what can ya do?

9.198 gallons

8.736 gallons

7.97 gallons

So the readings and my measurements are as follows:

1st tank 34.15 mpg
2nd tank 36.27
3rd tank 39.89

I tried to do the best possible and just fill it til my pump clicked it off. This way it was what it was, every time. And I was usually able to time it to pull in and fill literally as the light was coming on. Thankfully my nav unit has a full listing of gas stations to keep me from running out now.

Also I checked tires too and kept them 40PSI too.

The first tank was decent especially since I got stuck on I-75 while waiting on morons to move......

Once I cleared the rabble I-75 it was pretty smooth all the way to I-110. My 3rd tank was really good especially since I got to go all ricky bobby and draft behind the 18 wheelers for a loooooooooooooooong time. Between that and the rain it helped keep me honest on not getting too crazy with the driving.

My last tank which I did not take pictures of was about 30 mpg. Just an FYI...when you do 80mph, you can watch your gas gauge just DROP but at that time I was crunched for time and I was still getting passed. I think I got about 9 gallons in and i was at something like 268 miles on the odometer. I was also ridiculously sore of my car b/c at that point it was over 1200 miles in 19ish hours.....

Don't overdo it -- if you flood the vapor recovery canister, you could be in for an expensive repair -- especially don't fill until you can see gas in the filler neck, then go park in the hot sun; if you hit the road immediately after topping off, there is no need to worry about heat induced fuel expansion. After thefirst click, I usually keep filling until I hit the next even dollar amount.
