Interested in tinting windows

Hello,
I'd like to get *legal* tinting for the rear windows (all windows behind the front seat). What do I need to know in terms of amount of tint and type? I don't mind paying more for quality, within reason... I don't want bubbling tint if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

Most of the states accept 35% grade of tint as legal tint, in Virginia I think it's 50% on front windows, 35% on back and rear windows. I would look in getting 3M tints. What color is you car?

lol. on a silver I'd stay 35 n up...then again, blacked is always nice too. personally, I'm starting to like cars more with no tint or just minor.

black tint is nicer but with mirror tint you can get away with darker cuz its harder to tell the difference.. i used to have 13% mirror on my accord and always get pulled over but never get tint tickets haha

i like the no tint clean look too but its too hot here for that.. i gave up after having my fit 3mos

In california no tint is allowed in the front, anything in the back goes. I have black 5% in the back and 25% up front. Havent had a problem since the back looks darker

Word to the wise don't buy the pre-cut off Ebay it's low tech carbon tint fades really quick! The shop i had MzFit done @ peeled a car that had this stuff on it and the rear defrost lines were the only part that was still dark.
Get what ya like and like what ya get. "Quality" never fades away.

CA is supposed to be really tough on the tint laws but I went the same all the way around and haven't had an issue yet. I always laugh when I see a fit without tint and it's like looking into a fish bowl!!!

Read up on state laws not just in your own state, but also in states that you frequently visit. In some states, the law only specifies that cars registered in that state must comply. in others, it applies to ALL within the jurisdiction.

For example, Georgia:
It is now illegal for window tinting material to be applied to the rear, side and door windows of motor vehicles that does not allow for more than 32 percent of light transmission (plus or minus three percent). It is also illegal for materials to be applied to the windows that increase the level of light reflected to more than 20 percent. Additionally, except for the top six inches of the windshield, no material or glazing can be applied that would reduce the light transmission through the windshield.
Violation of the law by either driving a vehicle with illegal window tint or installing the illegal material is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine up to $1,000 and/or up to 12 months imprisonment.

In preparation for the summer heat, I just got 3M Black Chrome BC35 tint all around myself - so that's 35% on all windows. So far so good. I usually dislike tint (night driving becomes a chore), but it didn't take long for me to get used to the slightly darker windshield.
