Piston slap anyone?

I posted a thread a while back about this issue and I'd like to know if anyone else has noticed this. My car suffers from piston slap and I notice it if I start my car and idle it for a minute or two. After driving for a while and fully warming the engine it goes away.

I've heard piston slap in old worn out big bore air cooled motorcycles and VWs but not on anything water cooled except some ancient farm tractors....`Is your engine using an excessive amount of oil?.... I have noticed that my engine is making some unusual noises since the weather has gotten cool.. What I am hearing is coming from the intake inlet and goes away as the engine warms and the RPMs drop.

The noise isn't coming from the top end like the sound that valves make on a cold honda engine. It's in the bottom end of the motor and is a deeper sound. Other than this noise it runs fine, gets good mileage and doesn't burn any oil to speak of.

If you remove the top of your air cleaner box and remove the filter you can hear the sound get louder if it is what I am hearing..... It sounds mechanical and it might be from the throttle control valve on mine... Like yours it it will gradually quieten down and sounds fine when the cold engine light goes of and the idle RPM drops.... It sounds very much like piston slap.

I wonder if your piston rings seated properly.

My engine is experiencing piston slap too, except i wont hear it when cold at 1200 - 1300rpm but will definitely hear it when hot at 850Rpm.... It sounds a lot like my old Neon! Except the Fit is 10 years younger and have a lot less milleage and was always serviced with AMSoil ou Red Line oils! I guess it will recieve the Wiseco treatement as it's out of warranty now...
