Were you able to get a license plate number?

Well atleast for the most part you're ok, and you have some particulars to give to the police. I mean if your car looks this bad, there car must look pretty bad itself. So hopefully he'll get his eventually when he goes to collect insurance. I wouldn't be surprised though if it was a stolen vehicle.

First things first. Get your own body checked out at the hospital. Your car won't be going anywhere in the shape it's in, but you'll probably go right back to using your body...and that could make it worse.
No matter what car comes in the future, be sure to get the full insurance. You don't even have to be in the car for it to get hit or side-swiped. Only time to reduce your coverage is when the car is old (like my former car was) and just about any accident would "total" the car because it's not worth much. For instance, if the car's value is less than what you'd pay on insurance for the extra coverage, then it's not really worth it.
If you have to pick up cans and sell pencils in order to cover the additional cost of the insurance, do it. Because right now, your insurance would be checking into fixing your car and making sure your injuries are taken care of.
You can also look into Defensive Driving Courses that MIGHT save on insurance rates, here's one place:
Newport Driving School - Serve Orange County - Online Education
You can read the description of their course. Starts with super basics and proceeds to things about accidents and extreme conditions. Check with the insurance company first to see if they do offer a discount, and if they have specific places they do or don't recommend.
After all, an accident avoided isn't an accident. It goes into the "stupid driver almost hit me" complaint file, while your car remains running and whole. And your body does too.
Remember that even walking on the street puts you at risk, so BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!

thanks man...the cops were like how did you not do a spin out and hit that light pole? i just gripped on to the wheel and pulled to the side..it could have ended a lot worse so i guess im happy the fit did a good job protecting me.
