gd3 transmission is toast
#21
it is really easy to fix this problem before it starts when i install the new gearsets i am going to put red loctite on that bolt and torque the hell out of it some people on here should pull out their shift tower and check their bolt it real easy to do you unhook the 2 dhift cables , there are 4 10mm bolts on the top of the tower then it pulls right out takes less than 20 min to do just make sure you seal the tower back down with hondabond or a good rtv gasket im interested to see if anyone else has a loose bolt i am tryig to get a tsb started with honda tech line if this is a common issue then it is going to be a verry $$$$$$$$$$ issue
doing this could probably help quite a few Fit owners (myself included)

This applies to 07 Fits sold before Nov. 6 2006. No 08s are eligible.

I don't think that they are denying the warranty, They are saying rebuild the transmission not replace it, which is what turbosohcabortion wants.

This same issue happened to the Inside Line long term testers at Edmunds. Here's what happened to them...
"Day one: Drop off Fit. Complain about car still not going into reverse.
Day two: Receive call from service advisor, "We will need to open up the transmission to get to the bottom of this. Do you authorize this? It's $800. You'll only have to pay if the problem is not under warranty." "$800? US Dollars? Fine, fine. Do it." He said we'd get a call when he knew more. Just a few hours later we got the call. They'd found the problem. A bolt had fallen out of the shift-arm linkage. (That could explain the noise Scott Jacobs heard that faithful day in the parking lot.) They said it must have been loose from the factory as this piece coming loose by itself was near-impossible.
The loose fork damaged the reverse gear, reverse idler gear, first and second-gear synchros, synchro springs, synchronizing friction damper, and shift fork was heavily worn. The reverse gear assembly and synchro rings would need replacing."
