Second Battery Dead....AZ HEat. Replaced with.....

Hi,

So on my second battery now.

1st was the OEM little wierd thing. Dead in the first summer of AZ heat in less than 4 months.

2nd was a 51R civic battery replaced by honda. Worked great. Third summer here in AZ now dead.

3rd...........Wanted to find a bettery that fit. So with measurements and cca required I'm using an 05 Mazda Miata sealed battery. 370cca.....And fits like the stock battery. Part # 8AMU1R

Should this be OK? I work at a shop so it's no big deal if it doesn't last. But it meets the requirements of the vehicle.

It should work perfect right?

Should work fine, as long as it has the Cold Crank amperage to turn it on.

OH btw the new honda batteries are the worst. Mine failed on me in normal usage after about a year. Replaced under warranty. Then another year later, the second battery went bad. REplaced again (at another dealership).

Yah, I didn't even try the dealer. I got an 07 Fit sport in april of 06 or the day they came out. And I have over 60k on the car now.

But yah the battery fit perfect. Only had to get shorter hold down poles because the height was shorter. $3 dollar fix. And this battery weights almost half of what a 51r weights. And the 51r hit the intake tubing and fuse box. Was way too tight. Then started leaking....On fuse box.

So I hope this works out. Has 3 year free replacement. So we will find out.

Stock is actually closer to 320 cranking amps, and I don't think that's the cca rating either

ive had mine since early 07 and no issues whatsoever with the battery.

not that im an expert on this but isn't that oem rated for quite a period of time?

I think you should get an Optimum battery. Saves you some money.

37 months on the stock battery.... I had to replaced an old battery charger and got a Schumacher Speed Charge. The thing has a microprocessor that constantly changes the charge rate while it is charging and breaks up the accumulation of sulphur on the plates.... The battery that came on a Chinese built scooter that most people have to replace in a few months still works after 2 years. I just hook it up every so often when I am puttering around in the barn and use it on whichever vehicle's turn it is for attention and let it do it's thing.
