Convertible Car Seat Troubles

Convertible Car Seat Troubles
So, my son just turned 5 months and at 22lbs he's too big for his infant car seat. We went out and bought the Alpha Omega Elite 3 in 1 convertible car seat yesterday and after trying to install it it's apparent that there just isn't enough room behind the passenger seat to both install it properly and have room for a passenger in the front seat. Anyone else experience the problems I'm having. Please Help!!! Here are some photos to illustrate my problem:
As you can see these lines should be parallel with the ground, but they aren't.
Here's the position of the passenger seat. It's just about all the way forward and the back is almost straight up and down.
I'll take some pointers on how to get this one to fit or if someone has used a different convertible car seat that actually fits please let me know.

Although Honda does not authorize it specifically, I use the same carseat you mentioned, in the middle position, LATCHing the inboard LATCHes from either side. The long/high section of the carseat then simply rides between the front seats, which can then both be all the way back. Also, I consider the middle rear to be the safest position for the little guy, even if using a LATCH anchor from either side is not factory recommended. Finally, to get the "level" level, I do have a rolled towel for spacing/lift.

Hey thanks for the replies, only took 4 months LOL. Lately I've just had to have the wife ride in the back, unless we take her Cube, then there's enough room in the front seat. Is the middle still the safest position even if you're using the LATCH system differently than recommended? I guess it's better than having him so close to the side in an accident. Maybe I'll try to move the seat into the middle, that's where we had the infant seat, but we were just using the seatbelt to latch it down.

You shouldn't use the outside latch positions for a center seat. If you want to use the center seat, just use the seatbelt, it works fine and sometimes easier in most cases. 90 percent of car seats aren't installed properly and reasons like this is why.

Subcompacts aren't the best for convertible seats unless you are very short in stature. The ex and I suffered through this in her Echo. It was actually more comfortable for us to put the seat in my pickup with the airbag disabled, and one of us sit in the side-facing rear death-seat (there's legroom at least!)
