Carbon fiber door panel inserts - What do you guys think?

This is something Ive been working on for a member of the forums. He sent me his door panels so I can replicate the inserts in carbon fiber. This one looks choppy but it was straight out of the mold so it wasn't cleaned wet sanded and clear coated yet. So keep in mind its an unfinished piece but its a mock up.

I thought Id post pictures of the progress so far.

I started by masking the front but then thought it was unnecessary since theres no way I can damage the front by cutting the back. The back of the panel had to be cut since the factory made the door panel as a one piece mold.

You can see I just cut in the center of that line and then grinded it down a little until I got far enough that the space opened.

The two rear panels out and trimmed

The mold was created - That was a very tricky and complicated task.

The carbon fiber was put up in the mold and then vacuum pressed so all the corners are tight and pushed in.

And the semi finished product

All the edges are perfect!

Tadaaa! This was just to show some of our work. Ill post finished pictures soon. Im also doing the front and then will be creating carbon fiber left and right speaker boxes for the trunk. This will all be done in the coming weeks.

Hmm. If I do decide to reproduce these then the price would be probably... $350 for the front, $300 for the rear, or $625 for all 4. But if people start liking this, then Ill make a GI thread in the GI section of the forums.

dang, that costs more than my car.

how about you do faux CF laminates for poor folks? say $150 for all 4.

the thing is, the stock panels actually look pretty decent imo.

You do a great job but I have been looking for a few items that I can only get if I order this entire kit which I don't want to put on my car. I would like the small inserts in CF that go over the door and window switches. You can find them in the bright car colors but not in CF or at least not the ones that I have found. Any chance you might be doing those soon?

I'm thinking that, while these are very, VERY, VERY cool, this thread belongs in the 'Gauge Interest' forum.

But I could be wrong.

The thread started off just to show the job not the product. But then people liked it and I created a GI thread in the GI section
