News is saying Honda Fit can kill you...
I was listening to the national news on the radio this morning while getting ready for work. They announced that owning a micro such as the Honda Fit could kill you in a frontal crash with a larger vehicle. No joke! Do you think!

I think it's pretty apparent that this car can easily turn nasty. I mean the doors are just plastic and metal, it's so thin and weak. The front consist of a lot of open space with the engine being so small and if you look at it, the front rebar and frame are pretty thin also. I don't know, what you gain in agility and gas mileage and cabin space you kind of lose in safety. Common sense?? lol.

Pound for pound, the Fit is one of the safest cars on the road. That said, an front-end impact with a SUV weighing twice to three times as much is going to hurt. You reach a point where all the crumple zones and airbags in the world aren't going to save you. Still, though, you have a much better chance in the Fit than you would in many larger cars of earlier vintage that don't have the multiple airbags and crumple zones.

maybe thats why the FIT have bigger windshield compare to other sub-compacts so we can see better and avoid frontal collision? But having said that, nothing is safe when we run into a head-on... Not even a TANK

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety issued photos graphically depicting what happens when a Toyota Camry meets the smaller Yaris...
when a Honda Accord meets the more diminutive Fit...
and when a Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets up close and personal with the Smart Fortwo.

haha that is so funny. all because the fit was involved in an accident with some famous person. if it were anyone else that crap would have not been said.
i bet the guy driving the fit was old anyways

It looks like a full frontal impact is alright. The corner hits are the damaging ones. But if you think about it, almost any car will lose to a dump truck or tractor trailer. Just try to be nimble enough to get out of the way.

I got hit at about 45+ on my front driver corner (almost head on) and I walked away with nothing more than a bruise on my arm from the side airbag punching me in the side.
The car wasn't even totalled!

Did u notice that when the Camry crash in to the yaris, The Camry's Front is pushed all the way into teh Yari's C-Pillar; whereas the Accord's Front is only pushed up to the a-pillar?
So I guess If you are in a Yaris, u will die on the spot.. whereas if you are in a fit, you either lost ur legs... or suffer a slow and painful death? I guess 50/50 is better than 100% death imo =\

I would like to replace the foam in my front bumper with shape charge plastic explosive with electric blasting caps. A contact switch, activated by an impact that was strong enough to result in my death would pretty much even out the risk of death.
