Piece of Valve Steam Broken Off (HELP!)

Alright,

I was checking tire pressure as I do every time I fill up at the gas station and it was pretty cold out. I believe the outside air temperature was -24 F. I went to use the air hose to top off a tire that was a bit low and in the process somehow managed to break part of the valve stem off. Basically a little piece of stem about 3 threads in size. So the top of the valve assembly is no longer protected. I can still put the cap on, but this is something I would like to replace. I have looked at the Parts Dwg. from the parts catalog and got confused. I came to the conclusion that you can't replace the valve stem. You can only replace the valve core, or the whole TPMS assy. either one or the other or both. Is this true? Can anyone figure otherwise? Thanks for the assistance.
