Seeking to acquire a Honda Fit
Recently went to a dealership to check out a 2016 Fit LX cvt and I set a budget myself of around 12.5k USD for a car. However, the dealership was asking for 13.1K out the door. Now according to KBB the car itself was a great deal having only 45K miles on it. I guess my question is should I have a pulled the trigger or was it a good idea to walk and seek a better deal?vidmate mobdro word counter

edit: This doesnt belong in the GD section.
You said it yourself, you have a budget. If that $600 difference is just too uncomfortable for you then so be it!
There is a 2016 Fit LX with 42k miles at a dealership in my area for about $10,400. After TTL that would probably be within your budget unless the dealership has an astronomical dealer fee (and being in FL, it wouldnt surprise me if they did).
Nobody can tell you if you should have pulled the trigger as you are the only one that looked at the car. If you arent in a rush there is no reason to jump on the first thing you find.
Use autotempest.com to search for local cars and see whats out there.
If you really liked the car you could always call the dealer back after a couple days and see if they will reconsider your offer.
Good luck!

Yeah, I have to say, your budget is your budget. It's never a good deal, if the vehicle is beyond your budget.
Also, I would think most dealerships would have more than $600 room to play with the price of an offered used vehicle.
$13,100 for a 4 year old Fit, may be a fair deal, but it isn't a home run great deal. If the dealership wasn't willing to deal with you, on a $600 dollar difference, out the door, on that vehicle I think I'd walk.
You can find something that you're happy with and DOES fit your budget.

$13,100 OTD for a car that was 17-18k OTD four years ago during a pandemic in which many dealerships will struggle to survive?
They can come to the 12.5k if they want the car gone.
TBH I wouldn't pay more than 10k for that car, but I haven't bought a car in over four years.
