First Post, First Explosion!
Hi all.
I'm Sean, and I'm from New London county CT. I have a 2011 MTX Fit Sport in Vortex blue.
I have a LONG commute to Woonsocket RI every day, and I just had to sign up and share the following photo.
Long story short, I was traveling home on RT 6 in Rhode Island, I hear a loud BANG and I see a strip of rubber fly out behind me.
After removing the wheel from the car, this is what I see.
I have NO idea how this happened.
Anyone have an 08-11 OEM wheel to sell?

I'll snap another pic in the morning.
There's a corresponding hole in the tire tread complete with steel belts hanging out. It is actually quite impressive.
The funny part is I was on tirerack this morning checking out potential replacements for the OEM tires.

It actually wasn't too bad. I was more scared when I was driving my wife's '05 CRV at 70mph and we had a blowout.
I'm really wondering how the hell this happened. I've never seen a wheel do that. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed running over an object that would have caused this level of chaos!!
edit: looks like I'm driving the miata to work tomorrow lol

That is scary. But never seen a Fit wheel with that problem. Looks more like you hit a large bolt or something and it blew through the tire and whacked the rim. If you look at the broken hole on the bottom edge it looks like it was blown inwards not outwards.
Is that a small gap (black looking strip) on the right side of the rim on the rim edge?

Maybe you ran over a live shell? I've seen bullets punch through wheels like that before. Sniper theory might work too but the rigs I'm used to would have left you with no wheel at all. Glad no one got hurt. Hope you can find a replacement.

And I have never seen something like that happen to a rim before, holy hell man. Glad you're OK.

Holy shit, I've never seen anything like that. The only thing that I can think of is maybe you ran something over and didn't know it. What else could it be?

Reconditioned wheels are cheap and OEM. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Fit-2009-to-2011-Wheel-63990-/121121203137?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2009%7CMake%3AHonda%7CModel%3AFit&hash=item1c3362e3c1&vxp=mtr

Tirerack doesnt give you any grief over a different size. I ordered 195s to replace the shitty factory 175s
Just when you make your account to order, use the tire size first, then associate the car with it. no annoying pop ups or anything
