Had my 2010 fit for a little under 3 weeks and I am on my third windshield. This has not been related to the stress fractures, but has really affected my wallet in replacing the glass.
I have gotten lucky and scored discounted glass from my insurance company, but I have not even made a payment on the car and I am over 800 bucks in the hole because of glass replacement. Anyone else notice how the windows are rock magnets?
Even with the first broken glass, it was hit multiple times before it finally cracked. There is something to be said about the stress fracture issue. I had a VERY small chip on the second one, and before I got a mile down the road, it had spiderwebed across to the drivers side. Even the guy from safelight said that the chip should not have webbed that quickly.

 

Try keeping greater distance between the car in front of you. Also, were the replacement windshields OEM Honda? If not, they may not be as resilient.

 

damn doode, i haven't had a rock hit my car yet. perhaps you need to chill on how close you follow people or stay away from semi's? either that sucks even if your insurance is covering it.

 

First windshield was open road. Nothing in front of me for a good 200+ yards. I have NO clue what hit it. I heard it hit and CRACK!!
Second one was a rock off a semi. Nothing I could have really done about it. I am on a part of I-95 that is construction for about 20 miles. Its just the chip was so small. I heard a peck, pulled off the road and looked at it. Was nothing to it at all, not even the size of a pinhead. Went about a mile and it split to a good 6 inches and then progressed almost all the way to the drivers side in 3 days.

It definitely sucks, but I have another bud who has a 09 that is on the second piece of glass. His was a stress fracture. Split right up the middle and started leaking. WITHOUT insurance these windows are almost 800 bucks a pop. Every place I call says its a tough window to get due to how many they are replacing. Which I usually shrug off, but when I get the SAME excuse from 3 different places with about .50 cents difference between quotes, its got to be so.

 

thats all bad. i shall have to double check my insurance to make sure its covered in case this ever happens to me (knocks on wood). hopefully you don't endure anymore window replacements.

 

All 3 have been OEM. I requested them to be so. I am thinking this next one, I will go aftermarket...I mean, how can it hurt now? Seems the OEM ones are not doing the job. I drove my truck this same route for well over a year and have had window hits from A LOT larger road debris with not even as much as a chip. (They have been working on this part of I-95 for almost 5 years)

 

I dont know about Cali, but I tell you now, you live in Ga. you better have a low deductible or road hazard tacked onto your insurance. What makes it even crappier, is if I lived 10 miles further south in Florida, I would automatically be covered insurance-wise by the state....ugggg....frustrating.

 

Wow- you have beyond incredibly bad luck with this. I've been dealing with road construction in these parts too. It's like a war zone most every day. Still have the original glass after eight months. Of course in saying that, I just put the whammy on myself. But three in THREE weeks? That's seriously bad luck. The OEM glass may truly suck, but your luck or driving habits- or the route you must drive- are seriously working against you. Good luck.....really, I wish you much better luck cause it's sucked thus far.

Florida FTW. Its a law down here that the insurance company MUST replace the windshield free of cost if there is any damage to it. Ive had mine replaced already. I always keep several cars distance between cars in front of me... no drafting here, 34 mpg is good enough for me.

 

There is a windsheild film that helps to keep this to a minimum.

that is a great law, one that every state should have.

 

Every COUNTRY should have that law!

My own original windshield has had lots of little stone chips but it took the one closest to the windshield wiper blade and cowl to instantly sprout a 7" crack. It's still growing at an alarming rate - now it's almost double the length and climbing up the driver's eye line.

I'm waiting for the insurance to process my application, and when it's done, for Honda to import a GD windshield. Three day wait.
