Post Small review on my 2010 Sport MT

I put 1400 miles on it since purchasing it with 12 miles on the odometer about a month ago.

I have to say that despite a lot of wonderful things that this car has, it is not without some drawbacks.

I will start with the things I found disappointing or leaving me wishing for improvement.

- During the 2-day drive from New Mexico to LA, I found my right leg getting cramps due to the seat being so short. This happens now even on a one hour drive.

- Wish the front sear could have height adjustment. Feels like i'm sitting on a child chair (like the ones you find at McDonalds).

- As others have said, the driver's side left hand rest is a joke. Totally unusable to me. I find myself resting my left arm on the surface next to the window (top of the door panel, which is too high).

- The visor is also useless in its side position. Every morning when I drive to work in the southern direction, the sun just shines me straight in the eyes below the visor which covers tiny little area right near the roof, when in side position. I might have to look for custom extenders or by the driving glasses with sides covered.

- The brakes are weak compared to my old 95 Altima.

- The ride is a bit bumpy and choppy (I run 35 psi in the stock 16 alloys).

- The steering wheel is nice but slippery. Also I am afraid that leather will wear out and look crappy which might be difficult to sell later.

- The engine is a bit noisy at above 4000 rpm. Makes the car sound like an underpowered, abused ford escort pushed hard up hill by a fat soccer mom.

- Lack of cargo cover. Can't keep anything in the car without being afraid of it being noticed and stolen.

- Lack of ashtray/little trash recepticle.

- Lack of real central console storage area.

- Rare shape of the floors. Can't use generic floor mats.

- This huge windshield is difficult to find a common Sun Shield for. (Have to use the honda fit specific only)?

- The hatch can not be opened from the inside easily (have to pop the lock cover with a screw driver).

- The cargo light can not be turned on and off independently.

- The plastic in the rear of the hatch feel flimsy.

- Still hate the fact that it came without any floor mats, wheel locks, cargo tray or cover... and the priced for OEM accessories are ridiculous. How can a freaking piece of rubber cost 150$??? a monthly salary of most workers around the world.

- Maybe it's me, but I haven't noticed any effect of a v-tech after the tach passed 5500 rpm.

- Rear visibilty is worse than my old nissan's.

- Having to protect the condenser and fog lenses is a nuisance.

- Paint is indeed chips easily. Already have a small chip right above the grill (how much is a touch-up pen for Taffeta White?)
__________________________

On the positive side, as many already said, it's a wonderful car.

- Love the usb audio. And the entire radio unit as a whole.

- The engine doesn't seem to be overstressed or over-reved at highway driving in my opinion.

- At 3K rpm it's smooth and quiet and the car returned 41 mpg mostly highway driving so far.

- Driving it is a pleasure and the interior's versatility is unbeatable.

- Telescoping steering wheel allows for overall comfortable seating position.

- The cuirse control is helpful especially to let the right leg "recirculate".

- The map lights are bright and easy to turn on/off. Love this feature.

Overall, on a 1-10 satisfaction scale, I am at 9.5.

Thanks for reading.

Us in canada don't get the map lights which is REALLY annoying.

I'll edit a few things that I agree/Disagree with.

- During the 2-day drive from New Mexico to LA, I found my right leg getting cramps due to the seat being so short. This happens now even on a one hour drive. I found that moving the seat further back and dropping the steering wheel/Telescoping it solved this for me.

- The brakes are weak compared to my old 95 Altima. I don't think they are weak but have a worse feel. My 07 altima had a numb feeling - My GS-R had the best brake feel overall

- The ride is a bit bumpy and choppy (I run 35 psi in the stock 16 alloys). I run the recommended 33psi and it's still a choppy ride but I like the feel. Still not as harsh as the Altima 3.5SE

- The steering wheel is nice but slippery. Also I am afraid that leather will wear out and look crappy which might be difficult to sell later. I'll be replacing that down the road with an aftermarket cover if need be.

- The engine is a bit noisy at above 4000 rpm. Makes the car sound like an underpowered, abused ford escort pushed hard up hill by a fat soccer mom. -this is where I wish there was a 6th Gear. I don't travel much at 4K rpm but when at 65mph, it's a bit loud. Glad we take the Ridgeline on long trips.

- Lack of cargo cover. Can't keep anything in the car without being afraid of it being noticed and stolen. It's available as you know. I'll be picking one up at some point. Wish it had it but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it then. (it's on my Holiday/birthday Wish list)

- Lack of ashtray/little trash recepticle. I use the side pockets and cup holders... I don't need 36 cup holders.

- Lack of real central console storage area. Agree fully. I'm glad for an armrest but wish it had storage too like my Integra.

- Rare shape of the floors. Can't use generic floor mats. Wish list item... Got mine for Christmas

- The hatch can not be opened from the inside easily (have to pop the lock cover with a screw driver). Not quite sure why you'd need this... Are you sleeping in your car?

- The cargo light can not be turned on and off independently. Yeah... someone else replaced it from a (TSX?)

-How can a freaking piece of rubber cost 150$??? a monthly salary of most workers around the world. Got mine from College Hills Honda online. Much cheaper than the local dealer.

- Maybe it's me, but I haven't noticed any effect of a v-tech after the tach passed 5500 rpm. You won't. it's iVTEC, not VTEC My B18C1 had the rush at about 6K rpm because of the DOHC VTEC motor. iVTEC provides more power down below so it's less "fun" but more efficient in handling the power.

- Rear visibilty is worse than my old nissan's. Better than the new Altimas

Overall, on a 1-10 satisfaction scale, I am at 9.5.

Thanks for reading.
I wish it also had steering wheel audio control - Plan on adding one day.

That's a pretty large negative list and a pretty small positive list compared- are you sure you rate it a 9.5?

If everything were weighted equally, your question might make sense shockwave.

I'm bored and my girlfriend is at work (retail store manager), so here are my replies to your "issues:"

1. The ride is stiff, you're making it worse by over-inflating beyond the recommended spec of 33 psi. You have no one to blame but yourself for that. Inflate to the factory spec and the ride will be less harsh.

2. The steering wheel is slippery? This is probably the best steering wheel in the class, with real perforated leather for better grip. My steering wheel still looks as new as the day I got it a year ago, your fear is unfounded.

3. Of course the engine is noisy over 4K rpm, what were you expecting? It's a 1.5 liter engine with 117 hp, it's working hard when cranked over 4K rpm's. If you don't like it shift at 3K rpms, but don't fault the engine. Regardless of what it sounds like Honda engine's will run forever and love to be revved.

4. There is a cargo cover available for the car, you haven't looked hard enough.

5. The OEM all-weather floor mats are cheap on-line and fit the "rare floor shape" perfectly.

6. I purchased a sun visor for my car on day one, you can't survive without one in the Texas summer. It was specifically made for the Fit. I found one on-line in a matter of 30 seconds. Just like the cargo cover, you haven't looked hard enough.

7. I purchased a screen mesh grille for condenser protection on Ebay several months ago. I posted about it too, look it up under my name. It took 10 minutes to install and my condenser worries are over. Bitching about something so easily fixed is pointless.

8. Rear visibility is bad in the Fit? You've got to be kidding.

Complaining about the cost of OEM accessories is also ridiculous, because again as I've been saying, a little searching on-line will provide you with plenty of options to purchase the same accessories for 35% to even 50% off Honda's list price.

Much of your list are things that can be easily corrected/fixed. Some of the things you complain about like the seats, and the visors I can agree with. The brakes and the paint are fine for me, no paint chips and the car stops on a dime every time I need it to. Do I wish it had rear discs instead of drums, of course, but for such a small, light car, they do the job fine.

Good luck getting your issues fixed, they are easy ones. Not having a 6th gear, adjustable lumbar support, moonroof, rear disc brakes, outside temp display, heated exterior mirrors, or better sound system (louder) are a bit more difficult to fix.

i have windshield shades... they're universal foldable oval ones... just turn them 90degrees so that the longer side goes the length of the windshield(up/down)...

I found some generic rubber mats at Sears that fit the front surprisingly well. Technically, they're truck mats. They're uniquely shaped for the left and right sides, and they even have a corner cut out that matches the Fit's floor shape. They're only $20 a pair at regular price, and sometimes on sale for 1/2 off. I'll create a separate post about them as soon as I can take some pictures.

Update - floor mat info posted here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post792299

The best mats I've found for the Fit are WeatherTech's Digital Fit mats. Expensive though.
